A company that makes lasers and laser systems is looking to bring more jobs to Seminole County with a proposed facility in Oviedo.
Oxford, Mass.-based IPG Photonics (Nasdaq: IPGP) is looking to build a 50,000-square-foot facility at 552 S. Econ Cir. according to Seminole County documents. The facility is being proposed for a vacant, 6.1-acre parcel next to the IPG-owned OptiGrate Corp. manufacturing facility at 562 S Econ Cir., IPG Oviedo Technology Center general manager Alexei Glebov told Orlando Business Journal.
"The new 50,000-square-foot building is intended for expansion of IPG’s manufacturing facility owing to growing demand for the holographic optical components made at the Oviedo manufacturing facility," Glebov said. "Also, the new facility targets growth of development and manufacturing of laser systems at the IPG Oviedo Technology Center."
The facility would add more than 100 high-tech manufacturing jobs, according to Glebov.
