The driving forces of the FPC are networking opportunities with industry peers, an expansive resource base, and an educational community focused on industry input for curriculum development. Jay Kumler elected SPIE Fellow
Jay Kumler, President of FPC member company JENOPTIK Optical Systems has been elected Fellow of SPIE for achievements in optical design and fabrication. Jay founded Coastal Optical Systems in 1991, which designs and manufactures optical systems for life sciences, semiconductor, defense and entertainment markets. Among many advances, Kumler led the company to develop and bring to market new camera lenses for forensics that are color corrected in the ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared, as well complex optical modules for cancer research, drug discovery and genome sequencing. Jenoptik acquired the company in 2002, and Kumler has continued to lead JENOPTIK Optical Systems as it has grown to a >$30M optical systems company with 135 employees in six states. (March 3, 2011)
